A new Green Flag is flying at Folkestone's Lower Leas Coastal Park after it was once again officially judged as one of the best in the country.

The park, created from a stretch of neglected undercliff, was awarded a Green Flag for the first time in 2007 - national recognition that it is one of the top open spaces in the country .

This is the second time this year that the park has gained the award.

The Green Flag scheme is run by the Civic Trust and is awarded only to the UK's best managed parks and open spaces.

Coastal park Manager, Laura Pinkham along with Kate Hayes, who manages Hythe Military Canal, have now been selected by the Trust to judge parks for Green Flag awards.
