Police questioning a man under the Terrorism Act in Hawkinge have today (16 September) searched two fast food outlets.

Forensic officers spent several hours at the Dolphin Fish Bar and Kebabs shop in High Street, Dover and a fish and chip shop in Hawkinge.

Kent Police have confirmed that the search was connected with the Hawkinge arrest, but no further details have been released.

A man remains in custody after being arrested on Monday just after 8.00am as he drove in Spitfire Way.

A police spokesman said he was being held on suspicion of being engaged in the commission, preparation or instigation of an act of terrorism.

Detectives have also carried out investigations in Curlew Place, Hawkinge.

Kent Police have said they appreciate that some people might find it rather disconcerting to have so much activity Hawkinge, but they are doing everything possible to complete this task as efficiently and thoroughly as possible.
