Dear Editor,

Today I spent a most enjoyable few hours at the Hawkinge Fun Day, and I should like to express my sincere thanks to all those who worked so hard and tirelessly to put on such a splendid show.

The sun was shining, the cadets were very smart and performed admirably, and all the stalls I visited were keen to explain things and answer questions, and the stage performances were top-notch.

The organisers must be warmly congratulated for putting on such a tasteful reminder to us all of how much we owe to those who sacrificed so much in years gone by, and allowed us to celebrate the freedom they fought so hard to preserve for us today.

I've had a great time!
