How much longer must we wait for road to open?

A road in Folkestone which was scheduled to be closed for repairs for 4 months from January 2008 has still not re-opened.

Horn Street, which runs between the A259 Seabrook Road junction and Cheriton High Street in Folkestone, has now been closed for more than seven months.

The road which is also a bus route, was shut for water mains works.

Cheriton Councillor Tim Prater is amazed the works have gone on so long.

He said: "Horn Street is an important local road, and its closure for so long has caused real difficulties locally, and even closed St Martins School for a day when the works blocked access to the School.

"With these works originally due to end around April, for the works still to be ongoing well into September is infuriating - and there appears to be no end in sight."

Cllr Prater has written to Kent County Council as the Highways Authority to ask when they now expect works to be completed.
