Police in Folkestone are appealing for witnesses and information after a woman was attacked by an American Pit-Bull dog.

The woman who is in her 40s was walking her own dog on land that used to be The Rotunda in Marine Parade, Folkestone at 6.00pm on Sunday (20 July) when the black Pit Bull, which was not on a lead and did not have a collar, started attacking her dog.

The Pit Bull then attacked the woman and bit her on the hand puncturing the bones, before running off. The victim was in hospital for more than eight hours.

Just after the attack, the victim spoke to a woman aged in her early 30s who had a Welsh accent and admitted to owning the pit bull. She was 5ft 4in tall with short brown hair and was wearing a white T-shirt, blue shorts and flip-flops. She refused to stay and give her details.

PC Leon Blackman from Folkestone Police Station would like to hear from anyone who witnessed the incident, and anyone who knows the woman who owns the black American Pit Bull.
