Hundreds of new jobs are expected to be created in Cheriton following news that Saga is opening a new call centre providing services and products for its over-50s business.

The company has taken over the former Eurotunnel Cheriton Parc site which has been lying idle for several years and are planning to use the building as a call centre, creating up to 400 new jobs.

Cheriton Councillor Tim Prater welcomed the news saying: "Cheriton Parc House has been pretty much empty for too long and I warmly welcome Saga to Cheriton. With the new Holiday Inn Express in Cheriton Parc as well, it's great to see new jobs being created and new businesses coming to the area.

"I'm pleased that Acromas Holdings, who since September 2007 own Saga and the AA amongst other businesses, have reinforced their commitment to the Folkestone area, adding to their Sandgate Enbrook Park HQ and Middelburg Square offices."
