Author of Folkestone book takes light hearted look at town

Folkestone is featured in a new book about the coast of Kent and East Sussex. Author Kathy Noltze relays insights gleaned from casual conversations with residents of Folkestone, Deal, Eastbourne, and other towns which intrigue American travellers who venture beyond metropolitan London.

In the book, "Folkestone and Bits of Britain", she tells of her steps and missteps on a side trip across the Channel. Colour photographs enhance this light-hearted narrative.

Noltze says she was motivated to write the book because the USA is such a vast and diverse country that many of her fellow Americans never holiday outside its borders. "If we'd explore other countries and cultures," she says, "we'd make smarter decisions when we elect our leaders."

She encourages her compatriots to shun cars and tour buses and to use public transport to mix with local people.

"A good place for novices to start their international travels," she says, "is in a country that speaks a fairly similar language."

Noltze is president of Magnum Travel, Inc., an Arizona corporation since 1978. She is a frequent traveller to the UK and the Continent and she is the author of Flanders: Bits of Belgium.

Folkestone and Bits of Britain is available at Amazon.co.uk and other on-line booksellers. For more information, see www.PropertyPurveyor.com.
