Following the resignation of John Punnett from Hawkinge Parish Council in July a vacancy now exists for a councillor.

The Parish Council has received permission from Shepway District Council to fill the vacancy by co-option.

Any elector who would like to be considered for co-option is asked to write to the Clerk stating qualifications and interests that would contribute to the work of the Parish Council and benefit the community.

Councillors are required to observe the Code of Conduct and have to register their financial and other interests with the Monitoring Officer at Shepway District Council.

Applications should be sent to the Clerk by 4 September 2008 for consideration at the next parish council meeting due to be held on Wednesday 10 September.

The term of office will terminate in May 2011 when the Shepway District local elections will be held.
