Unveiling of Merchant Navy war memorial

In remembrance of the Merchant Navy Seamen who lost their lives in World War II, a special memorial on Dover seafront is to be unveiled in next month.

There is to be a special service for Merchant Navy Day and unveiling of the Dover Merchant Navy War Memorial at 11.00am on Wednesday (3 September).

The service will also include a parade of standard bearers and a wreath-laying ceremony.

The Merchant Navy War Memorial was funded by donations to the Dover and District Merchant Navy Memorial Fund in remembrance of the Merchant Navy Seamen who lost their lives in World War II.
