The third Hawkinge Community Litter Pick will take place on Saturday 12 July starting at the Community Centre in Heron Forstal Avenue at 10.00am and finishing with a free buffet lunch at midday.

The last litter pick was in April when over 50 people took part with the hot spots being around Blenheim Drive and De Havilland Close. Overall 25 bags of rubbish were collected, made up mainly of drinks containers and snack food wrappers.

Seven year old Samuel Stephens from Proctor Walk who had joined in with his Mum said, “I helped out because it keeps the environment clean, if litter is left it would be messy and nobody would want to come to Hawkinge”.

Tanya Clark the KCC warden for Hawkinge thanked The Hawkinge Partnership for their continued support of the event and added, “having frequent clean ups like this makes people think twice before they drop litter again, so the area stays clean and tidy for much longer”.
