The only Briton to win Olympic, World, Commonwealth and European 100 metre gold medals was in Hawkinge on Sunday.

Linford Christie was on hand to support more than 150 youngsters from the Hawkinge area, Lyminge and Thanet taking part in the second annual Street Athletics competition at the Lidl car park in Haven Drive.

Street Athletics is now in its fourth year. It has seen thousands of young people taking part in races across the country with the top runners set to take part in the Grand Final at Albert Square, Manchester in September.

A year’s kit sponsorship from Reebok is up for grabs along with mentoring and training advice from both Linford and Darren Campbell.
