Michael Howard dropped in at the British Lion in Folkestone on Friday as publicans across the country celebrated the second Proud of Pubs Week.

Michael Howard is one of more than 100 MPs who visited pubs during the national celebration of pubs, organised by The Publican magazine.

He saw for himself the positive contribution that the British Lion makes in its community, as well chatting with licensees Nicholas and Denise Grant as they face up to an unprecedented series of challenges in 2008, ranging from spiralling beer prices to the aftermath of the smoking ban.
