If you've paid, stick it on your brown top bin

Residents who have signed up for Shepway Council’s garden waste collection service are being urged to make sure special stickers are placed on their brown-topped wheelie bins.

The council is now taking back the bins from people who decided not to pay extra for the service which was previously included  in the Council Tax.

Around 11,000 residents are now paying a premium of between £25 and £35 a year to have their garden waste collected fortnightly, as opposed to more than 17,000 last year who used the 'free' garden waste collections.

Cllr Alan North, Cabinet Member for Environmental Services, said: “It’s very important that residents who have paid put stickers on their bins so we can easily identify them.”

Anyone who has mislaid their sticker or who hasn’t yet received one should contact the customer services team on 01303 858660.
