Music from Handel to Cole Porter will be played at St Mary's church next weekend as part of a concert by the Central Band of the Royal British Legion.

The event at Elham on Saturday, June 28 has been organised by its recently formed friends group to raise funds for church maintenance.

The band will be led by the legion's director of music Captain David Cole, who produces the annual Festival of Remembrance at the Royal Albert Hall, with soprano Margaret Threadgold also featuring.

The concert starts at 7.30pm. Tickets cost £10 and include wine and light refreshments.

They are on sale at Brown's estate agents as well as Elham's art gallery and post office, with a small number expected to be available on the door.
