Thieves have stolen £2,000-worth of railings newly installed as part of a coastal defence programme in Shepway.

Police are investigating the theft of the stainless steel railings on the steps leading from the sea wall to the beach at Dymchurch.

Kent Police said it is believed the theft took place between June 12 and 16 and are appealing for witnesses to come forward.

Anyone with information about the theft is asked to contact Kent Police on 01303 850055.

Alternatively call Kent Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
