The former Hear'Say pop group member, classical musician, singer and presenter, Myleene Klass is to name a giant cruise liner at its British ‘coming-out party’ in Dover next month.

Myleene will be the ‘ship’s godmother’ and smash a bottle of English wine against the hull of the superliner Carnival Splendor at the town's cruise terminal next month.

At 113,000 tons and carrying up to 3,710 passengers, Carnival Splendor will be the largest passenger ship ever to sail from the port.

It has four swimming pools, a 5,500sq ft children’s play area and 22 lounges and bars.

Myleene, 30, said: ‘I am very excited and a little nervous at becoming a “ship’s godmother” for the first time. But my family is very connected with ships as my father served in the Merchant Navy.’

Following the naming ceremony on July 10, Carnival Splendor will depart on a three-day cruise to Amsterdam.
