The landscaping project to improve the area in front of the shops in Canterbury Road, Hawkinge has been completed on time and residents have already noted the improvements.

Before...

.....and After

The scheme replaced the old existing flat grassed areas with raised beds surrounded by railway sleepers enclosing robust, colourful plants and shrubs.

A bench was also specifically requested by residents so now weary shoppers are able to rest and take in the new landscape.

Hawkinge resident Peter Lane of Acorn Close said “The gardens are fantastic, it’s so much better now that it was before”.

Jill Heskett of Serendipity Flowers also commented that, “it’s looking very nice, several of our customers have made comments about how good it looks”.

The completed scheme is the result of consultation and collaboration by the Hawkinge Partnership, Hawkinge Parish Council, Kent County Council, Stagecoach East Kent and residents.
