The family of little Paige Brown, who died on New Year's Day, will plant a cherry tree and unveil a plaque in her memory at a ceremory in the village next week.

Paige, the little blonde four year old, from Hawkinge died tragically on New Year’s Day after becoming entangled in a hair-band hanging from a hammock where she kept her toys.

Paige's parents Phil Brown and Lorraine Ford will be joined by friends and representatives from Hawkinge Parish Council and The Hawkinge Partnership at the tree planting ceremony outside Hawkinge Village Hall on Friday 6th June at 1.00pm.

Pink was Paige’s favourite colour so a cherry tree will be planted in one of the new raised flower beds. It will be a key feature of the new landscape project which has recently been completed in Canterbury Road, Hawkinge.

“The family has been overwhelmed by the community’s reaction and support, a cherry tree will help keep memories of Paige alive” said Paige’s mother Lorraine Ford..
