Young entrepreneurs from Pent Valley Technical College who represented Ashford, Weald, and Shepway competed against six other schools across the County in the Kent County Finals of the Young Enterprise competition.

The pupils created a company, Dare 2 Be, which ran a disco for pupils, a quiz night for teachers and pupils, and a craft fare involving primary schools across Folkestone.

To help in preparation for the finals on 8 May, the pupils running Dare 2 Be were supported by the Sagittarius Marketing team in creating an exhibition stand and company report as they approached the

Year 12 pupil, Nick Holley, the Managing Director of Dare 2 Be said: “This has been a terrific experience. It was very daunting to go into the offices of Sagittarius who work with big companies like, Eurotunnel and Saga, but they were all very friendly and helped explain to us what we can do with the design and marketing.”

Whilst the students failed to scoop the top award, the judges did award them the ‘HSBC Award for the Best Company Report’ and ‘Phillip Man's Shops Award Best Display Stand’.’.

Charles Hagger, Managing Director of Sagittarius Marketing said: “We were all very impressed with the level of confidence and skill of the pupils at Pent Valley and the team running Dare 2 Be. They had a clear idea of what they wanted and directed Sagittarius Marketing accordingly. We are thrilled with the awards they have picked up and just a little disappointed that they did not take the top award.”

Katy Tibbles, the vocational learning coordinator at Pent Valley Technical College adds: “This has been an excellent exercise for everyone involved and we are very excited by the support offered by Sagittarius. We will be entering a team again in next year’s competition"
