On the 10th anniversary of Swingfield`s twinning with Aviron, Normandy, members of the Twinning Association gathered in the Black Horse to welcome 37 friends from France.

Chairman of the Parish Council, Cllr Colin Tearle and the Deputy Mayor of Aviron Jean-Pierre Follin exchange gifts

A 3 day visit had been organized to celebrate this occasion, with everyone going to London by coach, enjoying a coach tour of the capital before the party split into smaller groups spending the rest of the day visiting various places on foot.

The last day was mostly spent `en-famile` before departing late in the afternoon after a well attended BBQ at Selsted School.

During the afternoon an oak tree, the symbol of Selsted School was planted in the school grounds. The oak tree was donated by the White Cliffs Countryside Project.

Commemorative gifts were also exchanged between the Chairman of the Parish Council, Cllr Colin Tearle and the Deputy Mayor of Aviron Jean-Pierre Follin, who both looked forward to the visit to the school in the near future by 17 pupils from Aviron Primary School.
