A stranded kite surfer has been rescued after losing his kite a mile out at sea off the coast of Hythe.

Members of the public raised the alarm when he was spotted in the water waving his arms.

The RNLI lifeboat crew from Littlestone was scrambled to rescue him.

The 49-year-old was brought back to the shore safely and his kite was retrieved with the help of the crew of the safety boat from the Hythe firing range.
