The Annual Parish Meeting takes place on 23rd April in the village hall commencing at 7.00pm. This is a chance for everyone to air their views on parish matters.

Changes have been made to the status of the Hawkinge Partnership. It now receives its funding direct from Shepway District Council who also directly employ its staff. Now part of Shepway`s Neighbourhood Management Team it will also have offices in Grace Hill, Folkestone. Its staff will be split between the two venues.

HAWKINGE PARISH COUNCIL

A request was received from the Trustees of the Community Centre for financial advice and assistance. The Trustees have said that their solicitor who is handling the transfer of the assets to the new company has advised that there is a requirement under section 38 of the Charities act to seek financial advise from a suitably qualified person in order to proceed with certain financial arrangements. The accountant employed by the Trustees is unwilling to offer this advice. The Parish Council is aware that other parties including the District Council have also been unwilling to offer this advice and assistance.

The Parish Council has responded that it is unwilling to assist with this request.

The Community Centre is a privately run charity, totally independent of the Parish Council.

The Council have agreed the terms of a 2 year lease to be offered to the Hawkinge Youth Football Club and the release of funds to assist in the transport of temporary changing facilities.

The Council has refused a request from St. Luke`s Church to allocate Section 106 monies towards the cost of improvements to the Church Hall as it would be illegal to do so.

Tanya Clark the Community Warden has organized a `Community Litter Pick` for Saturday 26th April from 10.00am to 12 noon starting from the Community Centre. A view was expressed as to why this was necessary since Shepway DC has a statutory duty to deal with litter in the streets.
