A former English Channel hovercraft could soon be replacing a high speed vessel in the US after a deal to sell the American operated ferry to sail between Dover and Boulogne fell through in 2006.

The US ferry, Spirit of Ontario might soon be replaced with the Princess Anne or the Princess Margaret.

The two hovercraft were used to cross the Channel, but became obsolete when England and France completed the Channel Tunnel.

Two Canadian businessmen have submitted a proposal to city of Rochester, New Jersey leaders to provide a new ferry service between Rochester and Toronto.
