Hawkinge Partnership

The Hawkinge Partnership recently held elections for its Board Members in which the 6000+ electorate of Hawkinge was invited to participate. In the event 81 persons voted electing the following: Richard Jones, Dawn Hudd, Keven Avery, Rocky Ramsharak, Jackie Ide, Anne Hutt, and Patrick Rynne. Jean James was not elected.

Hawkinge Parish Council

The Council has agreed in principle to support the Hawkinge Allotment Society in their efforts to secure land of Cricketers Close for allotments from Shepway District Council.

For many years this piece of land, which is owned by SDC, has been designated for a recreation area although in fact it has been seldom used and poorly maintained.

The Annual Parish Meeting will be held on Wednesday 23rd. April starting at 7pm in Hawkinge Village Hall. This is an opportunity for any parishioner to come along and speak about any parochial matter.

The Parish Council is supporting changes to the way the appointment of town/parish councillors are made to the local Standards Board. At present they are appointed from a nominated list by other Standard Board Members. Hawkinge Parish Council believes town/parish council representatives should be elected by the town/parish councils themselves.

It was reported to the Council that negotiations were currently taking place with Hawkinge Youth Football Club on the proposed lease of the sports ground and replacements for the current temporary changing facilities. These will be reported to the next Finance and General Purposes Committee on the 19/03/08.

Distinct lack of interest in Hawkinge Partnership
by Lazarus

[ _USERINFO ] [ _SENDAMSG ]

Dear Ed,

Eighty one out of six thousand eligible voters equates to 1.35 per cent or less.

Do you think that there is a distinct lack of interest, or could it be that there are not many people taking the "'Partnership" seriously?

Observations with regards,

Lazarus

The partnership seems to spend the greater part of their time working on their latest propoganda leaflet. With all these youth workers? one would expect the village to be alive with activities!
