Police have made seven arrests in an operation to target drug crime in Folkestone and Hythe following information reported to police community support officers (PCSOs).

The first part of the operation targeted street dealing in the Dover Road and Harbour Way area of Folkestone on Tuesday morning (26 Feb) and led to three arrests including one for possession of class A drugs.

The second part of the operation took place on Wednesday morning (27 Feb) when five warrants were carried out under the Misuse of Drugs Act at addresses across Folkestone and Hythe.

This led to one arrest for possession of class A and class C Drugs and Breach of bail conditions, Two arrests for possession of class C Drugs and one arrest for possession with intent to supply class C Drugs. A significant quantity of cash was also seized.

All those arrested have been released on bail whilst officers carry out further inquiries.

Following our large-scale operation last year where more than 20 addresses in Shepway were raided and a number of drug dealers were sent to prison, we have had a good response from the public giving us information.

Insp Ivan Pickering from the Neighbourhood Policing and Crime Reduction Unit said: "Our Neighbourhood policing teams and PCSOs have built up a good rapport with local people who are fed up of having drugs in their neighbourhoods and want us to tackle the problem."

"Therefore, please continue to tell us when and where drugs are being sold and who is involved. You can contact us on 01303 850055 for non-emergency calls, or 999 in an emergency." He added.

To find out who your neighbourhood officer is call us on 01303 289271 or look at our website: www.kent.police.uk

The 'Rat on a Rat' campaign is run in association with Kent Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111. You can remain anonymous, but your information can help us to tackle the drug dealers.
