A record breaking cross-country event for East Kent schools is to take place in Dover in March.

Dover College has announced the 7th annual Junior Inter-School Cross Country Event will be taking place on Monday the 10th of March at Farthingloe Grounds, Dover.

Last year saw 600 pupils from 19 primary and independent schools take part in the event and this year's event will be even bigger, with 620 children from 20 independent and primary schools registered.

This is now the largest junior cross country event in the South East of England.

Dover College’s Infant and Junior Head, Mrs Heather Miller, commented: “We are proud to offer this great sporting occasion to the local community from Canterbury, Deal, Ashford, Sandwich, Broadstairs and Folkestone.

"With the present educational trend of encouraging young children to take more physical exercise a cross country event like this provides them and their school with something to aim for.

"It is an opportunity to bring the community together and for children to compete not only against each other but against their own personal bests.”
