The Hair Today, Gone Tomorrow fundraiser, held by staff and volunteers at the Tesco Express store in Canterbury Road,  Hawkinge on Saturday (29 November) raised over £2,000 for the Marie Curie Cancer Care Charity.

Staff donated books and videos to sell whilst Tesco donated cakes.

Children were not to be left out and were treated to a lucky dip.

But the highlight of the day was the sponsored hair cut for store manager Joanne Gambrill and management team member, James Hussey.

 
Two stylists from Lloyd Adams Unisex Hairdressing in Hawkinge generously offered their time to make the dramatic changes although James could not bear to lose his ponytail completely and saved it as a momento.

Store team leader Gill Kenward said that the event took the fundraisers well over their £2,000 target for Marie Curie Cancer Care charity.

"It makes Hawkinge the top fundraiser in the area group thanks to the generosity of staff and the shoppers in the community," she said.
