Photographs capturing some of the highlights of 2008 are on display at the Civic Centre in Folkestone.

The exhibition, put on by Shepway District Council, includes images from The Folkestone Triennial, literary festival, Charivari Day, New Romney Country Fair, Hythe Festival and a host of other events that helped give the year its sparkle.

Charity walks and charity runs, street athletics, parades, performances, sandcastles, giants and children take their place on the walls of the members’ foyer in the Civic Centre in Castle Hill Avenue until the end of January.

Anyone who would like to see the exhibition should ask at the Civic Centre reception desk.

The exhibition was organized by Hirunika Perera, a student at University Centre Folkestone, as part of a work placement with the council. It was officially opened by the Chairman of the Council, Cllr George Bunting, on 17 December.
