Engineers from EDF Energy are investigating the cause of an electricity blackout in a village near Dover last night (30 November).

The energy company confirmed that nearly 350 homes in Studdal were left without power after an electrical isolating box was vandalised during the night.

Investigators sent to the scene found that a padlock had been broken and part of the network was switched off.

Dan Pritchard, from EDF, warned: "Tampering with the electricity network is illegal and extremely dangerous and we will of course be liaising with police depending on the outcome of our investigations."
