Some of the UK's leading arts philanthropists including former Saga boss Roger de Haan have been awarded medals by the Prince of Wales for their contribution to cultural causes.

The prize-giving process was steered by Arts and Business, a U.K. charity whose patron is Prince Charles.

Mr de Haan, ex-owner of the holiday and insurance company Saga Ltd., was rewarded for culturally reviving Folkestone.

The full list of recipients of the inaugural medals, which will be awarded annually, are Roger de Haan, for inspiring the cultural regeneration of Folkestone; Dame Vivien Duffield, for donations to various museums and for her fundraising; Carol Hogel, for the work of the Dunard Fund, her charitable foundation; Martin and Carmel Naughton, for their work with the Lyric Theatre in Northern Ireland; and Lord and Lady Sainsbury, for donations to various institutions via the Linbury Trust.
