The managing director of Lydd Airport, Cliff Spink has slammed the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds for attempting to block it's planned development and says he believes the RSPB "is simply trying to delay the development of the airport," according to a story published in the Rye and Battle Observer.

The airport has submitted two planning applications to Shepway District Council.

One is for a new terminal building, capable of handling up to 500,000 passengers a year; the other is for a 294-metre runway extension together with an additional 150-metre starter extension.
