Police patrols are being stepped up in part of Shepway after a spate of attacks on women.

There were three attacks on Friday night and early Saturday morning ( 14/15 November) on women who were out alone. One was a serious sexual assault, while the other two were physical attacks.

Police said all the assaults happened in the Grand Parade, in the Greatstone area of New Romney.

A mobile police station has been set up in the area to reassure people, and house-to-house inquiries have also taken place.

Road checks were set up on Saturday night to see if drivers had any information.

Police have urged people not to walk alone, and to ensure they let others know of their whereabouts, including details of when they are likely to arrive at a particular place.

Ch Insp Martin Bradley said: "We recognise the concerns of people in the area and would urge them to enjoy their night out as normal but paying due regard to safety."
