Thefts

Overnight 4/5th November a quantity of lead was stolen from Campbell Road, Hawkinge.

Overnight on 5/6th November, a tool box was stolen from a vehicle in Stansfield Avenue, Hawkinge. A side window was smashed to gain access to the van.

New French driving laws

As Christmas approaches and perhaps we think about popping to France to top up the Christmas shopping, can I just remind all drivers that there are now new French driving laws.

From 1 October 2008, all vehicles driven in France, including vehicles registered outside of France, MUST have one Hi-Viz reflective jacket and one warning triangle in their vehicle.

The reflective jacket has to conform to EU standard and MUST BE INSIDE THE VEHICLE - not in the boot.

On the spot fines varying between £90 and £135 will apply.
