Friends from Normandy joined villagers and members of the Swingfield Twinning Association for a short ceremony in the rain at the lych gate of St Peter’s, Swingfield Street on Remembrance Sunday.

Swingfield is twinned with Aviron and eleven residents of the village made the trip from France to pay their respects to the war dead.

Names of the inhabitants of Swingfield Street and Aviron who perished in both world wars were read out by the Reverend Grinsell, the last post was sounded by Densole resident Joss Rose and wreaths were laid by representatives of both communities by the memorials at the lych gate.
