Hawkinge Cemetery Race Track

Have your say!

Dear Editor,

Who is responsible for Hawkinge Cemetery Race Track?

The Hawkinge cemetery and surrounding roads (Aerodrome road Benson Lane and so on) are yet again a race track for illegal motorbikes and riders with no licence insurance crash helmets, yes in fact no respect for the people mourning their dearly departed.

The police do not respond (They don't know who owns the cemetery, can someone tell them so that they can perhaps react).

Do the owners of the cemetery have a track licence for motocross if so I have never seen an advertisement for the meetings they must be word of mouth.

Surely if they do have a licence they should have marshals and some sort of first aid available.

Do Hawkinge Parish council condone this after all the bikes come from very close to one of the parish council members and they must be aware of the problem?

I do remember some years ago there was a field a landowner had agree the local teens (and others) to use (I think it was every other Sunday) where they were safe and it was organised and if memory serves correct the PC banned it. Strange they do nothing to stop the roads and cemetery being used. Does anyone know why?

As a legal road user at risk of losing my no-claims to one of these bikes as a best case scenario and at worst they are going to kill a child walking down a foot path.

The police and PC have got to put a stop to this now before it is to late they have been contacted by at least four different households to my knowledge each getting the same response of, 'can you supply the evidence and we may get some one to have a look in the next couple of hours'.

Stop this before a child is killed.
