Buyers beware, all that glistens may not be gold

Buyers should beware of  fake jewellery following a warning by Trading Standards to Kent Police.

Trading Standards say there have recently been a number of reports of jewellery being sold around Kent by a group of eastern European appearance.

Generally the gang visits one area at a time with up to 20 people involved.

The rings and chains being sold are marked with 18k but are a mixture of brass, nickel, tin and copper, with some falsely displaying the Nike trade mark.

Consumers are urged not to purchase these items of jewellery due to the high nickel content which can cause skin reactions.

If anyone has visited you or you are aware they have been in your area please inform Amy Rowley at Kent County Council Trading Standards on 01233 898825.
