Man's body found in canal

The body of a 54-year-old local man has been found in a canal by passers-by going fishing in Hythe yesterday (6 January).

Fire crews helped retrieve the corpse from the Royal Military Canal in Twiss Road following the discovery on Sunday.

The area was cordoned off and a tent erected but police said officers were not treating the circumstances as suspicious.
