A Dover man who has been stranded for months in Thailand without the medical treatment he needed following a motorbike accident, has been flown back to the UK.

Former customs worker Richard Price, 38, suffered brain injuries and was left in a coma after the accident.

His mother June Price from Anstee Road, says her son failed to take out travel insurance when he first flew out to Thailand two years ago.

She could not afford the thousands of pounds needed to fly him home with a paramedic, but thanks to fundraising efforts he arrived back at Heathrow Airport on Wednesday night (30 January).

Mr Price came off his motorbike in Pattaya last November.

His hospital bills have been in excess of £30,000.

Mrs Price said she was very grateful to all the people who had helped to fund the cost of her son's journey home.
