Hawkinge Post Office owner, Bas Basra has confirmed that he is not closing any of his string of offices following customers' concerns.

In fact he has said that the business in Hawkinge has "picked up a lot of customers due to Capel Post Office closing and the free parking available in Hawkinge."

Local entrepreneur, Bas has now opened a newsagents and convenience store opposite Next in the new Folkestone Shopping centre.

To promote the shop he is selling newspapers at half price which he said "will run until further notice."

Mr. Basra has operated the Post Office in the Hawkinge Community Centre since July 2004, after Tesco took over the One-Stop store in Canterbury Road, which had previously run the facility in-store.
