Missing slab stumps Christmas tree councillors

The Hawkinge parish Christmas tree which stood proudly outside the village hall over the festive season has now been taken taken down apart from an unsightly stump.

Parish council chairman Cllr David Callahan said he it had been a great success with the Norway spruce weathering the bad weather and suffering no vandalism with all the baubles and lights intact.

The only problem we had said David, was the loss of the paving slab which covers the hole for the tree. "If anyone knows where it is, can they please let me know as we've had to place the stump in the hole to stop people falling into it."

If you know where the slab is please let the Gazette know and we will pass on the information.
