The Hawkinge Environment Group (HEdGe) reports great success at the recent funday event.

Enquires came in thick fast from people of all ages.

The children who visited our stand at the fun day especially enjoyed the "catch the mouse game" many doing very well.

Parents had the chance to talk to members of the steering group, finding out all about the the exciting tasks, walks, stile repairs/replacements, the family walk on the following day in Reindon Wood, pick-up the spiral tree guards littering part of the wood.

Over 30 dustbin bags worth were collected and 6 dustbin bags of rubbish left in and around the car park area, as well a chance for everyone involved to hear all about the wildlife and trees in the wood. A very pleasant afternoon was had by all.

On the 6th November there will a hedge laying workshop held in Crete Road West, where the first section of hedge will be laid.

All are welcome to come along, to take part or just observe. You can find about the tools used and how to care for them. You will be able to find out what a "pleacher" is, and "how to put the etherings on"
