Taking part helped my understanding

Have your say!

Dear Editor

In order to understand the work of the Hawkinge Partnership better I became a volunteer resident board member.

Only through taking part is it possible to understand how the Partnership works and how, together with the parish council and other service providers, it has made a difference in Hawkinge.

It is not just about the more visible successes like fun day, which hopefully will continue to be a feature in the Hawkinge calendar, or the provision of litter bins but also less obvious services involving education, youth, transportation and childcare.

I now represent Shepway District Council on the board and would encourage other residents to step forward and have a say in how we can help shape the future of Hawkinge.

Cllr David Godfrey
