The 68-year-old woman was airlifted to hospital for treatment after becoming ill on her way back up the cliffs at Langdon.

Walkers are being urged to make sure they are fit enough before they attempt some of Kent's strenuous cliff climbs.

The 68-year-old fell ill while ascending cliffs near Dover,on Saturday afternoon (16 September).

Her companion called Dover Coastguard which launched an RNLI lifeboat and scrambled a rescue helicopter with a paramedic on board.

The woman was flown to Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother hospital in Margate.

Dover Coastguard watch manager, Frank O'Neill, said: "The walk down the cliffs at Langdon is very steep and we would like to take this opportunity to remind people that they should consider their own physical fitness before attempting strenuous cliff-side walks.

"Remember once you' have climbed down, you have to climb back up."
