Eight fire and rescue crews rushed to a nuclear power station that was evacuated after a gas leak.

Staff were told to leave the building at the Dungeness B site after a carbon dioxide gas leak, but Kent Fire and Rescue Service said it was a precaution and the incident was minor.

First reports suggested the gas was leaking from the relief valve of a bulk cylinder which was quickly isolated and the leak stopped within 15 minutes.

No radioactive material was released in the incident on Monday (10 September) morning.
