Protect your privacy - remove your name from electoral register

A new system which registers eligible voters by phone or online will also let users add or remove their names from the edited version of the electoral register that is available for general sale to anyone who wants it, including mailing companies.

It is hoped the system in Dover will also encourage people to ensure they don't lose their vote in any elections by registering using Dover District Council’s new freephone telephone and internet registration service.

An automated registration service allows voters to confirm all their details in a matter of minutes, saving time and ensuring your household remains on the electoral register and able to vote in any election or referendum in 2007/08.

But the system can only be used where the electoral register details have not changed.

Residents will also be able to request postal vote application forms.

For more information, please contact the Electoral Services Helpline on (01304) 872344 or log onto www.dover.gov.uk/elections
