A 45-year-old man has died in what police believe was a hit-and-run collision in New Romney.

The man, who lived in the town, was a pedestrian and was pronounced dead at the scene of the incident, at Rolfe Lane, last night (24 August).

The road was closed for four hours following the accident at 10.00pm to allow the Serious Crash Investigation Unit to carry out inquiries.

A 79-year-old motorist is helping Police with their inquiries.

Anyone with information, or any witnesses to the accident are asked to contact Kent Police on 01622 798538, or Kent Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555111.
