Kent firefighters using breathing apparatus were rushed to fight a fire on board a passenger ferry at the port of Dover this morning (22 July).

The blaze on one of the car decks of the Norfolkline ship Maersk Dunkerque broke out in a boat trailer.

Passengers on board the cross-Channel ferry were evacuated as a precaution.

There were no injuries and the fire was put out within an hour.

Ferry services from Dover to Dunkirk have been unaffected.
