A man who died in a 43-vehicle pile-up has been named as 53-year-old Derek Bostock from Folkestone. His car was in collision with two lorries on the coast bound carriageway of the A20.

Police said today that a total of eleven people were taken to hospital with injuries.

The incident on Saturday (30 June) happened in what was described by police as "atrocious" weather. They said that visibility on the dual carriageway was down to 20 yards at some points, and it was raining heavily at the time.

A crash occurred on a slip road and police told how  more collisions were heard in the fog in the growing tailback while emergency teams dealt with the incident.

Crashed vehicles were strewn along the A20 towards Dover for more than half a mile.
