Sadly, a lot of people have been misled over buffer strip

Have your say!

Dear Editor,

I would like to respond Peter's recent letter regarding fencing and the buffer strip.

As a long time resident of the area, I can confirm Peter's comments about there being an old agricultural fence behind Vickers Close, De Havilland Close and much, much further, but must advise that this was a good deal further out into the field than the current post and wire fence.

In fact, it ran along the top of what is now the bank of the bypass. I know this for a fact as when the contractors erected the original post and wire fence (which has recently been replaced by the council), I questioned the contractors as to why the new fence was so much closer to the houses.

The reply was that the new fence was the boundary line and the area inside it was to be landscaped and planted with shrubs and tress (just like the new stretch of the bypass has been). Unfortunately this never happened.

Sadly, a lot of people have been misled by a few others, who clearly do not know the full history of the land and the original plans for it.
