I totally agree with your correspondents Jean James, Peter Hogben and others, can we all be wrong?

I have been a parish councillor for the last four years and have campaigned to:

* Get the car park up to standard,

* Get a proper footpath that is safe to use,

* Lights for the car park,

* Have flagpoles installed at the memorial, ( we have had the money available for two years).

I would like to see an indoor sports centre on the south side of the A260, where there is the bulk of housing and I have again been in contact with the managing director of Pentland Estates to discuss this.

I believe we could have sat round the table over a year ago when letters from Father Wardell chairman of the Hawkinge Youth and Community Sports Council were sent to the Parish Council Chairman but it was never debated by the council.

I think the leisuredrome needs too much money spent on it to bring up to standard.

Cllr. Callahan wants to sell the Leisuredrome and I believe he is proposing to give 20% of the sale to the ailing Community Centre.

This would mean less money for a badly needed indoor sports building, which would encourage the teenagers off the streets.
